You won’t be travelling as far as the Blue Downs. The folk who live beyond the hills speak a language different from ours.
Paths
There are many paths in the Greenwood, but I fear that many will have been closed by Hawk Enterprises and their wretched Clunkers.
This path leads from the north of the Greenwood through Forest View to the lands beyond the Blue Downs.
Hollow Bottom Lake
The lake in Hollow Bottom was where we played as children. The water was crystal clear and as fresh as the morning dew. I dread to think what it’s like now.
Greenwood River
The Greenwood River flows through the Vale of Greenwood towards the Southern Ocean.
Miller’s Brook
Miller’s Brook flows through a beautiful valley to Hollow Bottom. It never runs dry and provides Hollow Bottom Mill with a constant source of power.
Sparkling Brook
That’s Sparkling Brook. It has some lovely little water falls where, it is said, water sprites live.
River
I must be getting old. I can’t remember what that river is called.
Forest
The Greenwood has been home to our ancestors for hundreds of generations. I wonder if it will continue to be so.
Rhymer’s Hatch
This is where we are now. The forest was fenced once. A ‘hatch’ was a gate in the fence. Rhymer was a legendary poet who is thought to have lived here.
Forest View
Forest View is a strange town. The folk who live there think they are superior to us forest folk.
Vale of Greenwood
According to legend, there was once a vast, sprawling city which filled the Vale of Greenwood. No-one knows why it disappeared.
Dream Crag
Dream Crag! Now there’s a strange place. All sorts of tales of magic and mystery are connected with that place.
Warren Heights
Warren Heights was one of my favourite spots. If you were lucky you could find the odd starbright there. They would sometimes be dug up by burrowing animals. Worth quite a bit they were.
